Aluminum foil inner liners for cigarette packaging
A cigarette aluminum foil inner liner is the wrapping layer positioned inside the outer pack, around the cigarette bundle. It is used as part of the pack’s protective structure and opening system. KAYUYIN reviews inner-liner projects against the pack drawing, material requirements and packing process so the quotation refers to a defined specification.
For packs with a repeat-opening window, the liner and the resealable cigarette pack label need to be considered together. The opening shape, label overlap, liner surface and adhesive contact area all influence how the system opens and closes.
Specify the liner as part of the complete pack
Aluminum foil is used in packaging for its barrier properties. The performance of a finished inner liner also depends on the backing material, coatings, converting quality, folds and seals. A foil layer alone does not establish a shelf-life claim or the performance of a resealable opening.
- Material construction: identify the foil, paper or film layers and the required surface treatment.
- Pack fit: match the liner dimensions and folds to the bundle, outer box and opening position.
- Opening design: define a conventional opening or a window used with a separate resealable label.
- Packing process: review feeding, folding and sealing conditions before confirming the specification.
Technical information for a quotation
Send an existing specification, drawing or reference sample where available. The following details help make quotations comparable and identify points that need a packing-line trial.
| Specification to review | Details to provide |
|---|---|
| Material layers | Required aluminum foil thickness, backing material, total thickness or grammage, and coatings. |
| Dimensions and supply format | Required roll width or cut size, drawing tolerances, and the supply format to be reviewed. |
| Roll configuration | Core diameter, maximum roll diameter, winding direction and any splice requirements. |
| Surface and appearance | Required foil finish, embossing, print artwork and the side that contacts the opening label. |
| Sealing and conversion | Packing-machine model, folding layout and, where applicable, sealing temperature, pressure and dwell time. |
| Opening and reclosing | Window drawing, opening direction, label overlap and the required evaluation method for repeat opening. |
| Order requirements | Quantity, destination, sample needs and the requested delivery schedule for review. |
Matching a resealable opening label
The inner liner and the reclosure label perform different jobs. The liner forms the inner wrapping structure; the label provides the peel-and-reclose action over a defined opening. A suitable combination should be evaluated on the finished pack rather than judging the liner and adhesive separately.
During sample review, check the first-opening force, the cleanliness of the opening edge, label alignment, adhesive transfer and reclosure after repeated use. Storage conditions and the liner surface can affect the result. Required acceptance criteria and any barrier testing should be agreed for the project before production.
See our resealable cigarette pack labels for the matching opening component. For the structural support inside the outer box, view cigarette inner frame paper. An inner frame is a different component from the foil inner liner.
Inner-liner packaging illustrations
The graphite, emerald and burgundy images show the position of an inner liner in different outer-pack presentations. The outer-pack colors do not represent different foil grades. Final material construction, artwork and dimensions are confirmed from the approved project specification.
Frequently asked questions
Is an inner liner the same as inner frame paper?
No. The inner liner wraps the cigarette bundle. Inner frame paper helps support the box structure and the opening area. The two components need separate drawings and material specifications.
Does the aluminum foil liner reseal by itself?
A repeat-opening pack normally needs a matched opening design and a separate resealable label. Reclosure performance depends on the liner surface, adhesive, overlap and finished-pack construction.
Which dimensions are needed to start a project?
Provide the pack and bundle dimensions, liner drawing, opening-window size if applicable, and the required roll or cut format. For roll-fed material, include the core size, maximum roll diameter and winding direction.
Can printing or embossing be reviewed?
Send the artwork, foil appearance and embossing requirements with your material specification. Feasibility is reviewed against the intended structure and converting process.
